I judge two to be currently notable: the monastery town of Heiligenkreuz Abbey and the place near the Hungarian border, which led a previous editor to add the following to this article:

As the village is very close to the Hungarian border, the already approved construction of a waste management (incineration) facility and its possible environmental impacts caused heated debates and controversy between Hungary and the Austrian authorities.
