How much was HSP affected by the uncorrected main mirror[edit]
Did HSP do the scheduled observations (or more), and how much were they affected or compromised by the uncorrected main mirror ? - Rod57 (talk) 14:47, 10 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The Bless ref in further reading says "The ability of HSP to carry out its primary program, however, was nearly totally compromised by the poor performance of the telescope, i.e., the spherical aberration of the primary mirror that greatly amplified the effects of large spacecraft pointing jitter and telescope "breathing." As a consequence, the real possibility of HST/HSP opening a new era of astronomical photometry was lost. " and that HSP was affected more than the other instruments. - Rod57 (talk) 15:05, 10 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
