New Article[edit]

This is a recently added article for the architecture/engineering firm, Hoffmann Architects. Since this is my first complete article, I welcome all comments/suggestions/improvements/ideas. Hope to hear from you! --SenchaDragon (talk) 17:43, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've carried out some 'wikifying' i.e. general housekeeping. There were generally far too many repeated wikilinks. Embedded links to external websites are generally frowned upon too. Overall I would say well done for a clearly written article with an abundance of inline citations.
Though it may be because of your personal enthusiasm for writing the article (or for the company), the article reads very much like a resumé for Hoffman Architects, with significant amounts sourced from the company website, promotional material etc. I've already removed the long list of name-dropping from the 'Services' section. Personally I would be inclined to remove the quote from the AIA Fellowship Nomination, because I'm not sure it is a published, accessible document. Flattering descriptions may be okay when taken from a widely published expert in the field, but not from someone's mate nominating them to join an association. Notable things should normally be mentioned on Wikipedia - I'm not sure all the company's projects are notable, maybe you should consider removing any that are sourced only to the practice's website, or are to non-notable buildings. Because you are a new member of WP and the Architecture Project, I've desisted from adding an 'advert' clean-up tag to the article, but my finger is itching! Thanks for all of your help. I've removed the AIA Fellowship quote, as you suggested, and I pared down the list of projects. The "Publications" section had been removed by another user, which I think was probably a good idea. I've also added more citations for some of the projects. Thanks for the help with the internal links, too; I wasn't sure whether a link should be repeated or not within the body of a single article. I do agree with you that the text looks cleaner now with fewer links, yet it still functions well in relation to other articles. I really appreciate your time and effort in assisting me with creating a useful article. Now on to my next one! (I'm working on some material on curtain walls that I may add to that article.) Thanks again. --SenchaDragon (talk) 13:19, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
