False origins[edit]

There are three separate problematic portions of the bogus claims of descent from the earls of Huntingdon. The first statement is from a self-published 19th century family historian's unsupported speculation. This in no way constitutes a WP:RS, and Wikipedia pages shouldn't propagate the self-serving genealogical speculations of someone trying to glorify their own family. The second statement refers to 'early-stage genetic testing'. There is no reference provided for this statement at all, and has no basis in fact. I assume this is based on a FTDNA project or some such, but this would represent original research, in violation of WP:NOR. Further, there is no way 'early-stage genetic testing' could support the claimed descent - that is not how available genetic testing works, in spite of claims to the contrary. Then there is a meandering attempt to show that one Earl of Huntingdon married someone related to the Plantagenet kings, which would not be noteworthy even were there a genealogical connection to the later people named Huntingdon, which there isn't. So no, none of this has any business being in the article. Agricolae (talk) 15:10, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Self-promotion by Jeris Jill Huntington[edit]

User Jjjheart is attempting to add herself on this article in order to get verified on Twitter. The user claims so on Twitter: [1] "I recently submitted my entry into our #Huntingtonfamily Wikipedia [...] and I was denied". I suggest anyone watching this article have such material removed as soon as possible. I have just reverted them for a second time, had they call me a troll, but in fact, they are unknowingly perhaps violating Wikipedia policies. --Kuatrero (talk) 00:31, 27 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Unconnected Huntingtons[edit]

I removed sections about unrelated individuals with the surname “Huntington” — this article began as three families all with a common ancestor, not just anyone notable with the surname. These have slowly accumulated over the last three years and could possibly be part of an article Huntington (surname), but I’m not sure there’s even a need for that. — BCorr|Брайен 03:48, 5 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
