Name change[edit]

When did "International Commission on the Rules for the Approval of Electrical Equipment" change to IECEE? Or did it? --Wtshymanski (talk) 21:22, 5 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The abbreviation changed on the incorporation into the IEC - formerly "CEE" now known as "IECEE". Guidod (talk) 10:32, 3 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Full name[edit]

Notably the full name has never changed - the English "International Commission on the Rules for the Approval of Electrical Equipment" (IECEE designation) is a direct translation of the French "Commission internationale de réglementation en vue de l'approbation de l'équipement électrique" (CEE designation). It's the same for other translations like German "Internationale Kommission für Regeln zur Begutachtung elektrotechnischer Erzeugnisse" that may equally refer to IECEE or CEE. Actually, the standardisation body itself is the same - it just publishes its standards under the "IEC" numbering scheme since 1985 instead of using its former name "CEE".
