DHN, thanks for asking, but the article isn't eligible for DYK. For DYK, an article will need to have been created or expanded five-fold in the past seven days. The recent expansion brought the prose from 4363 B to 19 kB, which works out to about 4.4 times, still a bit short, and the time frame has passed anyway. Genre and categorisation[edit]

Since the editor insisting on removing content has so far not started a proper discussion, I'm going to take the initiative and explain why I disagree with the changes.

Firstly, the removal of content was wholly inappropriate, as it left broken sentence fragments and removed factual information that was neutrally presented. I'm aware that there are some strong opinions out there over whether the series falls into the boys' love genre, but it is not Wikipedia's place to take a position. The article does not ascribe the label to the series, and only presents the facts that it was described as such in its marketing, and that the question is a point of debate. While Time Out Bangkok (which is Thailand-based, by the way) is cited as an example since English-language sources are preferred when available, there are plenty other press articles that call it Nadao Bangkok's first series Y, e.g. The Standard, A Day Magazine, Sista Cafe. Media discussions and reviews also overwhelmingly cover it in the context of the genre, so trying to enforce erasure of the term is just wrong.

Secondly, I am positive I have my facts correct in that the creators have never rejected the boys' love or series Y label (even if they don't use it themselves). I went through the documentary several times in the course of writing the article, and never noted such a statement. It would be good if those arguing otherwise would provide quotations and timestamps to back up their claim. As mentioned in my edit summary, Naruebet did say in the Hardest Brief interview cited in the article that he's fine with however people describe or see it. Songyos also discussed the series in the context of series Y in this Positioning Magazine interview.

Thirdly, even if the creators did actively avoid the genre label, it would not be reason for this article to do so anyway. Primary sources do not hold any special status, and secondary reliable sources are in fact preferred as sources of information for Wikipedia.

Whether or not the article should be categorised under Category:Thai boys' love television series is more debatable, as there's less space for nuance in applying a category as opposed to textually discussing the genre in the article, but I think including the category for this article is a net benefit to the reader, given that the majority of sources do cover the subject in the context of the genre. Since the main purpose of categories is to help readers navigate between related articles, it would be more helpful to reflect that. In any case, do not remove the category without replacing it with Category:Thai LGBT-related television shows. --Paul_012 (talk) 09:34, 5 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
