Contradiction?[edit]

The two consecutive sentences in the lead that are copied below appear to contradict each other: "The Interpretation Act 1889 was repealed for the Republic of Ireland by section 3(1)(a) of the Interpretation Act 2005.

In the Republic of Ireland, this Act was applied by section 18 of the Interpretation Act 1923" Which is correct? Thryduulf (talk) 13:32, 15 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Both. First the 1923 Act restricted its application to pre-1924 legislation, then the 2005 Act repealed it (subject to a fairly convoluted saver). — Blue-Haired Lawyer t 15:25, 28 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
