Running time[edit]

Depending on the source, the film's running time is given with 72 minutes (IMDb), 76 minutes (Janus Film, the film's current American film rights holder https://www.janusfilms.com/films/1283 and Criterion Collection, the American DVD distributor https://www.criterion.com/films/1086-japanese-girls-at-the-harbor) or 78 minutes (see La cinémathèque francaise https://www.cinematheque.fr/film/122752.html and Stummfilm.at https://www.stummfilm.at/Japanische_Maedchen_am_Hafen-Minato_no_nihon_musume.html). As a silent film (varying between 16 and 24 frames per second) projected with sound film frame rate (standard 24 fps) runs faster and therefor shorter, this would explain the diverging running times. Writer[edit]

The majority of sources name Mitsu Suyama as the screenwriter. The website Stummfilm.at (Stummfilm.at https://www.stummfilm.at/Japanische_Maedchen_am_Hafen-Minato_no_nihon_musume.html) and the English translated titles of the film name Hisoka Toyama instead of Suyama. At the time this article was written, I chose the name the majority of sources voted for. Robert Kerber (talk) 20:27, 26 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
