If he himself was born in 1799, how could his daughter have died in 1804?? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.106.100.101 (talk) 06:26, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unsourced Material[edit]

The following quote "Wilson commenced studying at great length in the Library of Trinity College, Dublin, in 1837" is unsourced. In addition, while it may be where he did his study for his lectures, the way it is worded it sounds as if he was formally educated there. Multiple reliable sources, including Barkun and Quarles, list Wilson as self educated. I removed it until it can be sourced and reworded. Butlerblog (talk) 15:36, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The following quote "He brought evidence to bear from Ptolemy and works by Diodorus, supporting the earlier history of the Israelites. He studied the works of Rawlinson, Herodotus, and Josephus, and quoted extensively from Sharon Turner" is also unsourced and I can currently find no information supporting it. Quarles claims most of Wilson's evidence was philological. I've removed it and replaced information from Quarles until the former can be sourced Butlerblog (talk) 15:44, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The opening sentence that Wilson was "one of the ideological architects of British Israelism, along with 16th-century French magistrate M. Lelayer, Dean Jakob Abbadie (1654?–1727), and Sharon Turner (1768–1847), the eminent London attorney, who was Wilson's contemporary" is unsourced, and while it could be said definitively (ref'd) that le Loyer wrote British Israelite themes, he wasn't really an "ideological architect" of BI as a movement. Additionally there is no source given, nor could I find one that confirms Sharon Turner as BI. I'm removing the unsourced and rewording/replacing with sourced material. If a source can be found, then add/bring back the others. Butlerblog (talk) 17:21, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
