On Feinmann's Jewishness[edit]

According to rabbinic sources, the Orthodox definition of who is a Jew is: a person born to a Jewish mother, or a convert according to halakha or Jewish law. He does not seem to fulfill neither of the requisites. He was apparently born to a Jewish father and a Catholic mother, if one is to give credit to the Spanish version of this article. The Orthodox definition is recognized by all other denominations (be it Reform, Conservative, Reconstructionist and others) but it does not work in the other way around. He has not converted to Judaism either. Reform Jews could recognize him as a Jew as they are more liberal in their approach to halakha, but it is not the same as Conservative, who maintain the rule of the mother as a determinant of the Jewishness. He is certainly of Jewish descent, which is evident from his surname. It would be fair to assert just this fact in the biography, but to say he is Jewish or was raised in a 'Jewish home' is an exaggeration probably added by an anonymous anti-Semite. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Frasznik (talk • contribs) 00:03, 9 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
