Autobiography or Biography[edit]

The article states that Belmonte published his autobiogaphy, but then goes on to state that it was written by another person. This would, of course, make it a biography, not an autobiography. Can someone clarify which Belmonte's book is?ROG 19 19:56, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Death[edit]

The description of his death seems a little ambiguous, if not prudish. Does "engaging one more time in his final passions" refer to the smoking and drinking, or to the women, or all three? Essentially, did he get his end away one last time before he shot himself? Tsuguya (talk) 11:27, 6 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have a feeling the "final passions" story is just a myth, but maybe there's a definitive citation out there that proves it to be true. The only English-language sources I've been able to find from around the time of his death seem to suggest that he discovered he had lung cancer, came back from a routine ride, went into his study and shot himself. Of course it's quite possible that this is just the polite version of the story... but this spanish version seems to suggest that he just came home from a day's horseback riding, watched the sunset and shot himself, although it also seems to suggest that he was in unrequited love - and differs with the English language sources on the question of just how many times he retired.
