Scope[edit]

The article only descibes the Juducual system of RE after 1864. Maybe we should put in the name Judicial system of the Russian Empire (1864-1917) ? Alex Bakharev 07:49, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, we should add and fill an appropriate section. I don't have sufficient info about the period before 1864 (only EB1911 for now). Maybe section stub will be better. Kmorozov 15:08, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

On the contrary, this article must be a summary of the overall changes, while the particular major reforms must be detailed in the corresponding articles:

A possible additional source may be Brokhaus-Efron. Also, consistency of terminology must be figured out for old russian legal terms.

Also, B-E mentions "law of 1808" what was it? Also, Poland and Baltic gubernias had their own laws. Etc. Huge work here. And with current content the article is rather misleading. So, contrary KMorozov, the 1864 must be split out ASAP into "Alex II", leaving only summary section, and other section stubs added instead, for milestones, to have a minimal impression of full coverage. `'Míkka 21:29, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Shouldn't many of the sentences (particularly the section on Ecclesiastical and volost courts) be written in the past tense as none of these are applicable in Russia anymore? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wikiviedit (talkcontribs) 01:49, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted subsection on Vera Zasulich[edit]

For whatever reason, this article had an entire subsection dedicated to the trial of Vera Zasulich. I've deleted it, but here's the original text if anyone feels strongly that they need to reinstate it.

"Vera Zasulich, a Marxist writer and revolutionary, was acquitted by a jury trial in a well publicized case in 1878.[1] She had shot the governor of St. Petersburg, Colonel Fyodor Trepov, in broad daylight in front of witnesses."

This subsection was titled "Jury Trial" and included a large image of Vera Ivanovna Zasulich on the right (the link was zasulich-versa.jpg). PublicolaMinor (talk) 00:26, 10 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
