Pointless?[edit]

This page is a bit pointless, because the only news is Cyprus and Ukraine have both asked to host it. Whether it'll even take place is questionable.

It's not written fabulously, but I probably wouldn't do better, and I wouldn't try... I presume the writer is the same person who decided the EBU were thinking about a Junior Eurovision Dance contest? Wouldn't that be similar to Eurovision Young Dancers?

The list of countries is just a few you picked out at random, by the looks of things.

Also, full stops and stuff should have two spaces after, right?

Spacing[edit]

If you use French spacing, yes. However, I don't.

REMOVE THE PAGE[edit]

It is really pointless this article.. The only thing we actually know about the 2008 edition, is that is going to be held in Cyprus.. We do not know any dates, and NO country can confirm their participation, because before of that, the EBU must come up with the rules regarding participation. A Big Sort Out & Citations[edit]

I gave the page a bit of a spring clean and found as many citations as I could from esctoday & oikotimes. I know oikotimes is sometimes not necessarialy the best website for news, but it does give us a starting refernce point for those countries where references are used.

I moved all the 2007 participants into the 'Likely Participants' section that have not yet declared anything, although I have seperated Belarus, Sweden and Ukraine from the main group as they are bidding for the hosting rights to 2009. Languages[edit]

I understand that songs at the Junior eurovision song contest are usually performed in the official first language of the participating country however there are countries who have more than one official languages and also countries with recognized regional dialects who are also permitted to participate. How do you know the Maltese entry will be in English? It can be in Maltese. I know it is unlikely that the Cypriot entry would be in English BUT English is also an official language in Cyprus therefore they could be sending an entry in English. You can have a combination of two languages. Why Not? The Belgian entry can be sung in French or Dutch. In conclusion, do NOT list languages until the participating entry is revealed. Thanks. In my list all the countries with more than one language where still open... (Belarus, Cyrpus, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Malta) About Belgium, since the Flemish VRT broadcasts the show (The Walloon doesn't want to take part), the song has to be in the official language of Flanders, and the official language of Flanders is Dutch. - A dialect is still not a language but a part of a language, so... the Belgian entry (of Flanders) will be most likely in Flemish or Belgian-Dutch, but that's still Dutch! - About Cyrpus, while the spoken languages are Greek, Turkish and English, the only official languages are Greek and Turkish. Map edited... Deletion tag removed[edit]

I have edited the map so it doesnt have to be removed by replacing Non participants with other EBU members. I acknowledged that the map will be removed because it included every non confirmed participant as a non-participant but now that I have edited it there's no need to remove it. Thanks. Participants[edit]

This is an article on a content. This article should briefly describe the participants. There is ample precedent for such a structure on other reality shows where the participants have no notability outside the show itself. Until they do have notability outside the show, they do not have separate articles, and are described in the article on the show. Hence here for most of these groups. The participants biography has no effect on the contest. This page is about what happened, the country's participating, their entries, placings, etc. If there is consensus to keep, I guess I'll have to live with it, but the WikiProject is currently against the bios. A user is in the middle of making the other articles now. It will be easily incorporated like "Name, a 14 year old girl from this place and former dancer, was". Score sheet[edit]

Score sheet is upside down - we should have contestants in rows and country votes in columns, not contestants in columns and country votes in rows. Could someone perhaps fix this? --Dzordzm (talk) 23:12, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
