Proposed merge of Krupp into Krupp family[edit]

Makes more sense to have the long-standing article about the company (Friedrich Krupp AG) back at its original name, and this new article about the family at the "Krupp family" title Fram (talk) 10:32, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Fine by me. Emiya1980 (talk) 20:14, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sure proposal seems reasonable, but shouldn't this be an WP:RM? 2601:5CC:8300:A7F0:BDD8:5E1C:3E77:A8E6 (talk) 22:51, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
"Merge" isn't the process for what you're requesting. You cannot "merge" an article into a redirect; you merge an article into another article, and what you're actually asking for here is a page move that needs to go through the requested moves process. I'll complete the proper RM on your behalf on procedural grounds, but this isn't a "merge" request and cannot continue without an RM. Bearcat (talk) 16:21, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ever heard of a history merge? I don´t want the target deleted, I want the history merged. A requested move seems to delete the target zs dtandard. Fram (talk) 16:56, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
History merges are done through page moves, not page merges. Page-merges are done by copy-pasting content, which breaks the history because it moves the merge-from title's content but leaves its edit history in the old title — history merges are done by moving the other page to the desired new title wholesale and then undeleting anything that got deleted in the process, which means nothing gets lost because the move process can account for that in a way that the merge process can't.
