POV issues

The article, a perfect example of tendentious editing, is based on a couple of Russian sources none of which are third-party, reliable, and NPOV. Ref#2 is a dead link apparently from an Armenian nationalist organization. Ref#3 is authored by an obscure Armeno-Russian activist published by an equally obscure Russian newspaper. As for Ref#4, the only source the author, himself an official in the separatist Abkhaz government, cites to support his claims is his "conversion with Albert Topolyan, Minister for Youth Affairs, Sports and Tourism of Abkhazia". --Kober^Talk 07:04, 28 February 2016 (UTC)

It is uncontroversial that during the war, both sides carried out war crimes. The question is whether these references are sufficient to state that this happened in Labra. These publications have no motivation to make that up. Note that I did not cite their claims that this constituted a 'genocide'. The account of Amshentsi is deemed credible by Kolstø & Blakisrud 2012 Yielding to the sons of the soil, who paraphrase him at length. The 1995 Human Rights Watch report mentions that in the first half of 1993, "Abkhaz villages were being terrorized by Georgian troops in the Ochamchira district", with interviewees relating "daily intimidation, widespread looting and house-to-house murder". Sharia 1993 АБХАЗСКАЯ ТРАГЕДИЯ contains eye-witness reports from Labra and Lynch 2007 De facto ‘States’ around the Black Sea specifically mentions the atrocities committed in Labra as playing an important role in post-war memory, similar to Khojali for Armenians. sephia karta | dimmi 08:06, 3 March 2016 (UTC)

Your response is too general to address the issues raided here. I don't need to be reminded that "both sides carried out war crimes" because I, unlike you, did not observe what was happening there from the other edge of the continent. Your text presents the gothic-story-type descriptions such as "Labra was looted and destroyed by Georgian forces, who subjected inhabitants to torture, rape and murder" as the undeniable truth. The article is in urgent need to be sourced using reliable, third-party sources. Otherwise, it should be emphasized that these allegations come from one of the combatant sides and then balanced with the other side's version. --Kober^Talk 09:23, 3 March 2016 (UTC)
