Proposed deletion[edit]

A WP:PROD was removed on the grounds that, "anyone who was covered in so many news reports last week is considered notable, so the same should apply to a person covered over a century ago." Is that first part true? Doesn't it depend more on how notable that person, or some other feature of the incident, already was? This guy wasn't notable in any other way. I'd suggest a full WP:AfD would be appropriate, but I stand to be proved wrong. — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 19:36, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I removed the WP:PROD tag, but might (depending on my looking a bit harder) support an AfD. News reports seem to be considered to be secondary sources on Wikipedia, despite the fact that they are not considered so elsewhere, so I would be interested to see the result.
