On the Dangers of Coding Websites[edit]

The biographical information about the founder having a back problem because he worked on linktree so much is excessive and weird. Do we know if Sergie Brinn broke a fingernail while coding Google? Did Jimmy Wales scrape his knee while typing up a wikipedia entry? Did somebody faint while putting up their Geocities page? Sounds like part of a VC pitch ("Look at me working so hard!") not a useful detail describing the site. I'm not going to try to delete it though because it's so funny. Who almost dies coding a website that invents nothing new? They coded it in 6 hours.

(Dramatic sigh) I think I just got cancer while writing this comment. 110.235.230.162 (talk)

Thanks for pointing out the problem. That statement will be deleted. GeraldWL 13:49, 29 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Reference is an affiliate site for squarespace[edit]

I'm wondering whether the "Continuous Instagram bans" section makes sense to have. It was an issue two years ago, Linktree is not currently banned by instagram and the citation (6) is citing an affiliate blogpost designed to get people to sign up to Squarespace. 103.21.1.156 (talk) 00:57, 29 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Per WP:AFFILIATE, affiliate sources are allowed as long as there are no non-commercial sources out there that could replace said affiliate source. I couldn't look through any other sources, I've literally went through the 42nd sequence of Bing. If you have a good replacement source that would be nice.
Plus, I think it's fine to highlight the previous problematic bans. I don't see an issue with it. GeraldWL 10:53, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Linkthis - Linktree Competition[edit]

The only known Linktree competitor is Linkthis. Linkthis a freemium that allows you to showcase any number of external links, images, music, and more, in one short link. It's like an incredibly fast-loading micro site.

Linkthis creates a personalized domain, that contains all the important links to share with online audience per a specific campaign. It can be used on social platforms like Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, TikTok or LinkedIn, or it can use it in resume/bio to aid discovery of academic work, brand or business.

The paid tier gives businesses additional global domains, custom branding and colors, verified checkmark, own Google Analytics code, Password protection and more.

Here is a demo page: https://linkth.is/yspace-refyn

These features are not provided by Linktr.ee:

- Artificial Intelligent (AI) built in

- Better Analytics

- Social Media integrated at the footer

- Fixing 404 and other web errors

- Re-order links

- Heatmap

- Higher Google MOZ Domain Authority Score — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.148.136.229 (talk) 06:07, 4 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This comes across as an advert for a similar service rather than actual information to add to the article. Capturts (talk) 23:45, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
And the article already mentions another existing similar service so Linkthis isn't the only other similar service. Capturts (talk) 23:51, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Website[edit]

I was just wondering on the reason for the URL in the info box which takes you to the "about" page, rather than the home page for the site. Capturts (talk) 23:48, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Capturts, that's because Linktree uses a URL shortener, which is blacklisted in WP. I requested for a blacklist removal, but only about pages are allowed for less restriction. So there you go. GeraldWL 07:48, 23 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong link?[edit]

The word "Developer" links to Video_game_console#History for some reason. Is this a mistake? Donotforgetmycode (talk) 17:47, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I think that is a mistake in the infobox template. —Panamitsu (talk) 21:18, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've removed the link. —Panamitsu (talk) 23:11, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
