Ethnicity lists discussion[edit]

Please see discussion at Wikipedia:Village pump (policy) for current discussion of a potential policy to apply to all ethnicity lists on Wikipedia, including this one. JackO'Lantern 20:34, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sources[edit]

I have sourced the list in accordance with Wikipedia's Original Research and Verifiability policies. Basically, anyone described by a reliable source as "Swiss" or "Swiss American" (i.e. as opposed to "of Swiss descent") is on the list. Here are the few people I couldn't find anything for. If you have a source that fits that please restore the names:

Explain[edit]

Here's your chance, Badagnani. Explain what you still don't get. If you don't respond here, this all but qualifies your "please discuss in talk" edit summaries as affectedness. Bulldog123 (talk) 04:45, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Swiss descent[edit]

Gustav A. Schneebeli Bill Zuber

Two people with typical Swiss surnames, but there is no proof. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Primusinterparem (talkcontribs) 12:30, 21 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Eminem[edit]

has also Swiss distant ancestors:

Article organisation[edit]

The sorting by occupation is difficult to do in a consistent way. Better to transform the entire thing into a single sortable table, with the following columns,

  • name
  • birth/death dates
  • place of birth
  • descent (partial/full Swiss descent or Swiss-born)
  • occupation / description of notability
  • reference in footnote

This way, the table can be sorted by name, date or descent and we don't need to rely on dubious categorizations like "arts and entertainment > other" etc. --dab (𒁳) 10:38, 10 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
