Clarification about Turkey and Russia

First of all, Turkey and Russia a transcontinental countries that have parts in Europe and Asia. Turkey and Russia are considered to be part of Political and Cultural Europe, for ones who are more willing to investigate may refer to Europe article in Wikipedia. Moreover, both Turkey and Russia are members of Council of Europe.

If you look at world's major media agencies' publications, from BBC to Forbes (which is the source of this analysis), Turkey and Russia are included in European sections.

So I find it very useless to discuss this fact and I'm moving Turkey and Russia back to Europe for the last time.

I've also updated the results with Forbes' latest 2008 data.

Worth keeping

I think this article is worth keeping.

Last I checked, most of Turkey was in Asia Forbes has released the updated list of billionaires, they are telling, India has got 69 billionaires.. please update the figures —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.87.61.235 (talk) 06:23, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

The Netherlands has atleast one billionaire aswell, does the name Eric Laurant ring a bell?

So are all these numbers for dollar billionaries or for the home currency of each country? Pointysticks 13:57, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

Misleading Title

Just browsing and came across this.

It's not a list of billionaires by nationality, it's a list of countries by the number of billionaires.Staples 10:07, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

I agree. The title of the article should be changed. DJDavis92 03:53, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, you're not wrong. It really needs to have the names and net worth of the individuals listed. Yay unto the Chicken 10:05, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Why is India listed in the Europe section?

About Figures

Could somebody cite any sources about these countries:

  • Kosovo (not a country)
  • Serbia
  • Albania
  • Nepal
  • Ethiopia
  • Philippines
  • New Zealand

Ethiopia's billionaire (I added Ethiopia) is an Ethiopian-born citizen of Saudi Arabia (so he might be on the list twice) named Mohammed Al Amoudi. — ዮም | (Yom) | TalkcontribsEthiopia 01:12, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

currency?

Is it in USD or pound or YTL or what? It says so in the "notes" but it's, well, the article's morst important infomation (change anything else and the articel is worth something, change this and it's nothing worth). It could even be (nonsens) in 100 different currecies (home currency). And add a note, that in amny coutries of the world anyone's property is something private. So almost all these numbers will be estimations (who knows, perhaps I owe 7 billions, but I've never told anyone). so long de:User:Thire, aka --85.103.171.19 23:06, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Merger of Articles

I do not think that the articles should be merged. I believe the topics are distinct.

Listing countries "by the number of billionaires"

The countries are listed alphabetically and not by the number of billionaires they have. I will try correct this error. --Incman|वार्ता 20:33, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

Kosovo

The two billionaires of Kosova are ethnic Albanians Bexhet Pacolli & the other person that i cant remember his name so their cant be consider as Serbian billionaires but Albanians —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Gon4z (talkcontribs) 17:28, 23 March 2007 (UTC).

Yeah, but technically their are nationals of the republic of Serbia. --Incman|वार्ता 21:32, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
Ethnicity has nothing to do with this list, but which country are those people citizens of. If their official residence is in Kosovo than they are still citizens of Serbia and should be cited there. The note itself is already redundant since it is not done for any other country, but giving the unsure status of Kosovo, it is understandable. When it changes we can move this data on it's own. For now it would be like citing some of American billionaires next to England, Italy, China... or which ever ethnicity they are. So please change this only if they are citizens of Albania. Icemaja 14:09, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Their official residents is one is Italian citizen and a citizen of Kosova and the other is British and Kosova but Kosova is not Serbian territory it has not been since 1999 its neither a part of Serbia or part of Serbia or a independent country so we should just make a new state whish it should clearly states United Nations administration state of Kosova i think that would prove better to avoid confusion

First of all Kosovo is still part of Serbia, it is internationaly recognized as 'province of Serbia'. You should check the facts before you make claims like this. Just because someone wants to be independant doesn't mean they are. It is under the UN administration since 1999, but even UN says it is still officialy and geographicaly part of Serbia so why do you think you can make new state before UN does? These days the discusions of Kosovo status are being held, until that status is resolved please stop making any more changes like this. This is encyclopedia so only facts matter not somebody's oppinions and feelings!!! Icemaja 14:19, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Serbia has NO influence within Kosovo it has not had any since 1999 and even though it is consider by "SOME" as still a part of Serbia most of the world considers it as an UN administrated state "not country" but not a part of Serbia and that is the fact I mean just because you want it to remain under Serbia doesn’t make it so because its not, to be consider still a Serbian territory will it has to be run & controlled by Serbia what you saying is exactly the same to with Azerbaijan says that Nagorno-Karabakh is Azeri land and the whole world puts it under the Azerbaijan’s map but in reality its an independent land and a part of Armenia so no Kosova is no a part of Serbia and that is the fact saying it is whish full thinking by the Serbs for God sake Kosovo does not pay taxes to Serbia Kosova has a total detached economy from Serbia’s it ahs detached everything Serbia ahs nothing in Kosova, Kosova has its own Passports get real mate just because you want to add 2 more billionaires next to your countries name wont make it true because they are not Serbs or Serbians. And for those people to be consider as Serbian Billionaires they would have to give live in Serbia which they don’t they would have to be Serbian citizens which they are not and would have to give some sort of contribution to its government which they don’t, so they re not Serbian they would better be suited next to Albania than Serbia but for this reason I made the Kosova column to avoid confusion.Gon4z 19:06, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

It may only be nominal, but it IS part of Serbia. I am sure Kosovo will be independent, but until than you should stick to the facts! I don't have any wishful thinking about Kosovo, but clearly you do. Go to UN site and read how they clasify Kosovo. www.un.org : "the UN Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK), which has run the Albanian-majority Serbian province since 1999", "United Nations envoy’s proposal for granting independence in a phased process to the ethnic-Albanian majority Serbian province that has been run by the world body since Western forces drove out Yugoslav troops in 1999." Tehese are not my words, and it seams that Kosovo is going toward it's independance, but until it does YOU CANNOT CHANGE FACTS JUST BECAUSE YOU LIKE IT THAT WAY! So as you see it is not considered by "SOME" as part of Serbia, but by the UN, and it is not "an UN administrated state" but "province of Serbia under the UN administration". For Kosovo status you can check these pages here on wiki too Kosovo_Status_Process, Constitutional_status_of_Kosovo and Kosovo. P.S. I really don't care how many billionaires Serbia has, but I do care that wikipedia stays true to FACTS. Icemaja 08:50, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

But where is their residence? In Italy and UK, or in Kosovo? If it's in Kosovo, it's still part of Serbia (at least nominally), isn't it?

Germany

On this list (The German U.S. Dollar Billionaires according to Forbes) you see 56 billionaires in germany .... i change this ... .

Update?

The article as it stands lists the world's billionaires as of February 2006. The 2007 list was published back in March: [1]. I suggest we process that list and update the numbers. Cows fly kites (Aecis) Rule/Contributions 18:04, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

Pakistan Rich List

I noticed some edits that Pakistan has 8 billionaires. This was sourced from here. I had it removed because;

  • 1. The source does not state the exact net worth of each individual. I have no idea where the author of the List of Pakistanis by net worth page got the figures from.
  • 2. There is no reference as to who the original author of the source is. The writer in the source stated that:

I received this list in an email from a friend - tried searching for the original author on Google, but had little luck. While searching though, I found it referenced at a few other places, including a cool blog called Financial Ave. In the blog too there's no mention on the original author. Such being the case this cannot be counted as a reliable source.

  • 3. The information from the sources were written in 2005. All the other information in this page is as new as 2007. How can information almost 2½ years old be used when such is supposed to be updated every year?
  • 4. It is clearly stated in the first line of the article that the lists of billionaires is compiled annually by the Forbes Magazine. I don't recall seeing a single Pakistani billionaire in the last Forbes Magazine.
  • 5. It should also be noted that the list excludes heads of states whose wealth is tied to their position. However Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif, who were heads of state (former prime ministers) form part the list.

Anybody who has an argument may contribute their opinions here.  S3000  ☎ 15:19, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

If you google "richest people in pakistan"[1] there are countless forums with this information. Minus heads of state there seems to be 5 'stani billionaires. I know that a forum might not count as a reliable source but it could be important to note where these people got ther information from. Cheers Sansonic (talk) 19:30, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

- You didn't count Monaco's billionaire in the european list.

- The right category is Category:Turkish billionaires.

I hope you have the time to correct it. Thanks

Russia is in Europe. Why not? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kızıl Şaman (talkcontribs) 14:05, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Turkey is a Transcontinental country, but it is considered a European Country, Turkey began full membership negotiations with the European Union in 2005, having been an associate member of the European Economic Community since 1963 and having joined the EU Customs Union in 1995. And Around 30 of the Turkish billionaires are located in Istanbul on the western side in East Thrace it is located entirely in Europe.

The Country is also part of all European sport associations, as Football and Basketball, and is currently in the bid for the UEFA Euro 2020 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Euro_2020

But don't feel bad, it is a common mistake to think that Turkey is part of the Middle East. Coloniasport (talk) 18:44, 4 July 2012 (UTC)
