Classes of triplane[edit]

Resolved

In the default list given at WP:AVILIST, the only class relevant here is "Propeller". That seems a bit pointless, so I have not added it in. We can agree a more useful approach to classification here. Some options I can think of:

  • Undercarriage (landing gear): Landplane, Floatplane, Seaplane, Amphibian.
  • Wing design: Equal-span, Short upper wing, Short lower wing.
  • Abandon the Class column altogether.

My preference is the first, to classify by undercarriage.

Do other folks have any preferences, comments or suggestions to add? — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 10:49, 17 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Given the rather number of triplanes, I see no reason to subdivide them into classes. But, frankly, I couldn't care very much, neither one way nor the other. Jan olieslagers (talk) 15:05, 17 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with the above, but if any division into clasees in necessary I would favour single/multi engine.TheLongTone (talk) 15:50, 17 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Just remove the unused column. GraemeLeggett (talk) 16:07, 17 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

OK, that's a reasonable consensus for abandoning the Class column in this particular list. Thanks all. — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 15:01, 21 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
