York[edit]

York was not part of the North Riding of Yorkshire it is part if the Ainsty which was separate from any of the three Ridings. York in now ceremonially part of North Yorkshire. Should we not be having lists which are based on the current ceremonial counties as places and other buildings are quoted and categorised that way? Keith D (talk) 15:56, 21 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Per WP:PLACE this article deals with a historic period, thus the use of Riding is in accordance with this. York group with North Riding as it was generally associated with that Riding. Mjroots (talk) 12:54, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
