Origin of the longtail boat[edit]

I would like to know more about the origin of the longtail boat. When did they begin to appear, and why could the engines not be installed as they normally would? Perhaps good stuffing boxes were unavailable, or the local builders had no prior knowledge of power boats and had to basically reinvent them? --GSchjetne (talk) 19:17, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
