Lawsuit against Morey Amsterdam et. al.[edit]

Amsterdam and his collaborators were indeed sued and lost, but by the composer of the music, Lionel Belasco, not by Invader/Grant. There was no claim with regard to the lyrics. Belasco was represented by Louis Nizer, and the matter is described in considerable detail by Nizer in his book My Life in Court.76.199.8.224 (talk) 01:01, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In fact, there were two lawsuits. The one discussed in Nizer's book was brought by Maurice Baron who in 1943 had copyrighted a song written by Lionel Belasco in 1906, L'Année Passée. The court held that the music had been plagarized by Amsterdam. See My Life in Court, Doubleday, New York (1961) Chapter 3.
Lord Invader wrote the lyrics to Rum and Coca Cola using Belasco's tune. Invader's lyrics had been published in Trinidad in March 1943, and Amsterdam admitted hearing GIs sing the song while he was in Trinidad in September 1943. Invader prevailed in a separate lawsuit that Amsterdam also plagarized the lyrics. Zombie Jamboree[edit]

Shouldn't all the bit about the song "Zombie Jamboree (Jumbie Jamberie)" and the crediting of the song to Mauge though apparently written by Intruder, go under the "Lord Intruder" article here--since the only tie to Invader is through Dave Guard's 1959 spoken introduction to the song? If there is no objection (or if no one beats me to it) I will move that to the proper article within the next few months. StavinChain (talk) 19:21, 29 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A lot of people think that the song was written by Invader because of that introduction. So I think there should be something in the Invader article to address this. James Fryer (talk) 22:00, 29 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
