The hole behind home plate[edit]

I was looking for information on the time period in which much of the grandstand behind home plate was missing, due to a major fire. The fire was sometime around 1970, and it was many years before the grandstand was rebuilt. I recall a newspaper article stating that other potential users of the stadium, such as rock concerts, passed because of it. Anyone have any info?
