Temple Deities[edit]

In this temple, Krishna is accompanied with Lalita and Radha in the central altar. So, Infobox should include Radha and Lalita as temple deities. How they can be considered secondary here? What is the parameter to decide that Krishna is primary and female deities are secondary here? Kridha (talk) 18:17, 3 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Redtigerxyz: In references and external links, names of female deities are clearly mentioned with Krishna. Their names should be added in Infobox. Kindly check the references once again. Also, the female deities are in central altar not in side shrines. If you are hinting at any particular reference, kindly do let me know because as far as I read even the tourism website of government along with other list of references on the Wikipedia page mentioned the female deities. The infobox and the lead should go by the references to decide the primary deities. Most Hindu temples have a primary deity and various secondary deities. The references used in the article explicitly call it a Krishna temple:
  • [1] mentions that "God Worshipped: Lord Krishna", but also mentions Radha being present; "The principal deity is of Lord Krishna"
  • [2] - "The principal deity is of Lord Krishna"
  • [3] - "The temple is dedicated to the tutelary deity, Lord Krishna."
  • [4] - "राजस्थान के करौली किले में कान्हा जी यानी मदन मोहनजी का मंदिर है" - temple of Krishna - Madan Mohan

Other references:

  • TOI : "The principal deity is of this temple is Lord Krishna ... "
  • [5] "It is dedicated to Madan Mohanji, an incarnation of Lord Krishna"

Most of references mention Radha in the descriptions, even omitting Lalita; however the primary deity is explicitly called Krishna/ Madan Mohan. --Redtigerxyz Talk 16:18, 4 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Redtigerxyz: So, I have checked the references. I agree with the point that temple is dedicated to Krishna as it is mentioned in references. But, the same reference also mention Radha. Including her name in Infobox should not be a problem as nowhere it is written that she is a secondary deity there. Infact, the festivals of the temple are also related to both Radha and Krishna. Kindly check reference 1 for that. Kridha (talk) 16:47, 4 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Many Shiva temples have a Parvati icon in the central cella behind the linga; however we do not mention Shiva Parvati as "Deity" of the temple. Compare with Goverdhannathji. Brajnidhiji and Govinddevji which state the temple is a Radha Krishna temple.--Redtigerxyz Talk 17:18, 4 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
