Investment in Barclays Bank[edit]

A report in the Independent dated Saturday, 1 November 2008 [1] included the following: Middle East investors will own up to one-third of the UK's second-largest bank after the operation, which is aimed at repairing damage from the global financial crisis. Barclays will get up to £3.5bn as a personal investment from Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed al Nahyan, one of the brothers of Abu Dhabi's ruler – and as of recently the owner of Manchester City football club. That could give him a double-digit stake in the company.

Reuters on 8 October 2010 reported [2] The main Middle East investor who pumped billions of pounds into Barclays (BARC.L) two years ago has locked in a profit of about 3 billion pounds on the investment after a complex deal that sent the bank's shares lower.

Mansour or Mansoor[edit]
