I added a "citation needed" to Maru's proposed breed type (Scottish Fold). There are a lot of references to him being an American Shorthair. Clockwork (talk) 00:25, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It says he's a Scottish Fold on his blog - http://sisinmaru.blog17.fc2.com/ - but if wikipedia's article on the Scottish Fold is correct he can't be one, his ears look normal. Scatterkeir (talk) 20:57, 6 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The fold in the ears is a genetic trait--Maru didn't get a dominant gene for it, but he's a Scottish Fold nonetheless.Mwillia9 (talk) 19:46, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Maru and Wimax campaign[edit]

Scottish Fold?[edit]

Not all SF cats have the folded ear. The trait is only semi dominant. Check the wikilink in the lede of the article for more info. Or google the breed. Sex[edit]

I notice that Maru is a tortoiseshell. Doesn't this make it unlikely that he's actually male, since male tortoiseshells are so rare? Have reliable sources said anything about this that we can cite in the article? —Saric (Talk) 22:32, 25 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
