Signed Treaty 8 in 2000???[edit]

The text says "Having signed Treaty 8 in the year 2000 ...". According to Treaty 8, the treaty was signed on 21 June 1899. Did the Tse'Khene sign in 2000?

Was it signed by the Tsekene in 1899? or was that the other one that others had signed? I seem to remember a recent treaty signing going on here. I live in Mcleod Lake, i'll have to ask someone next time I am out. B10Reaper (talk) 21:16, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reserve community?[edit]

I understand that you people are trying to bring more coverage of the natives, but you really need to do your research before you label us all as Indians. This is a trading post that has stayed inhabited for 200 years, it just happens to have a reserve, that in no way defines us. Whoever thought that Tse'Kene was the "native name" for this place didn't know what they were doing. We are not all represented by the MLIB. If we need to, make a seperate Tse'Kene page and I know of some Elders who would be glad to flesh it out if asked. In the future, please do your research before you assume such things. Content is often accretive, with people adding things in succession; that Tse'Kene as a native name crept in there from somewhere, evidence of over-enthusiastic attempts to relable everything as if everwhere had an "ancient name"...in some instances this gets totally understood, with the name of the people/group applied as if it were the name of the place. What I can say about this article, from the times I've worked on it, is there's not much out there on teh rest of McLeod Lake, and if you're from up there you're welcome to improve/expand the article as you see fit (try and cite everything); we have this problem with other places, like Nazko and Moricetown, which have reserves but aren't only the reserve...so by all means write the town article, and hopefully with a good Fort McLeod section; if there's not a McLeod Lake Indian Band article separately there should be by now. "you people" is "all of us", including you; anyone can add/edit/contribute to Wikipedia. It only contains what's put into it, preferably by people who know what they're talking about. So fire away and fill in the blanks; though pls familiarize yourself with WP:MOS, WP:RS, WP:VS, WP:POV, WP:Peacock, WP:SYNTH, WP:OR....I know that seems a lot but just read their introductions, you'll get the idea (though MOS is a bit of a bible for style/layout/content).Skookum1 (talk) 02:40, 25 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am well aware this includes me, which is why I was a little miffed before. My mother is head of the historic society, I'll get her to add what she can about the history of the place, I'll add what I can, even though there isn't really much with it.
