Exact location?[edit]

Bobschops had placed the tavern up on Cheapside itself, but Friday St is south of Cannon St, at least in modern times. I assume the reference to Cheapside is to the area rather than to the road, although it's possible that Friday St did extend up to Cheapside itself in the olden days. So I've moved the geotag further south, but it would be nice to have a definitive location.Le Deluge (talk) 19:32, 6 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Shakespeare at Mermaid Tavern[edit]

According to Walter Hart Blumenthal (1883-1969) in The Mermaid Myth: Shakespeare Not Among Those Present (1959) and Paging Mr. Shakespeare: A Critical Challenge (1961), no contemporary evidence exists attesting Shakespeare as "one of the tavern coterie of Ben Jonson, as tradition would have it" (1961, p. 292). Therefore, use of word "certainly" is not appropriate. Phaedrus7 (talk) 20:24, 26 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
