Rev. Michael Anderton may have been a life-long cricket lover, but playing in three matches while at university, which an editor describes as "first-class", which cannot be verified from the inaccessible sources given, does not warrant the epithet "first class cricketer". CricketArchive would have been accessible back in 2008, when that citation was added, but unfortunately is now behind a paywall. I'm a Daily Telegraph subscriber, so am able to read his obituary, which begins "The Reverend Michael Anderton, who has died aged 88, was a first-class cricketer who combined ministry as an Anglican clergyman with a distinguished career as a Jungian analyst." He may not have played in the University Match against Oxford, so did not get a Blue, but played in three matches against counties that were recognised as f-c.
