Talk:Mifsud

I see from the section of Mifsud that the name is attributed to Jewish origins yet it has always been make clear to us in the family by that name that it is Seleucid Turk from Damascus and that it was originally MESSUD with the first of the two ss which were originally written as one large and one small as can be seen in ancient manuscripts becoming f and s respectively. There are Mefsud on the island so the i is probably just an e or viceversa. The family surname of Suliemann the Magnificent was Messud. Any comments  ?

The family name of Suleiman the Magnificent (if he can even be said to have one, given Ottoman naming conventions) would be Osman, Osmanli or Osmanoglu. Nowhere in Ottoman history is someone named Messud listed as a forebear of the dynasty. And he was certainly not from Damascus. That being said, the fs typography theory sounds as plausible as anything else.
