Death in April 2008?[edit]

An anonymous editor has updated the article to include a date of death as April 18, 2008. Can anyone confirm this from a reliable source? I'd rather not update the "Living People" category and WP Banner tag, until we've confirmed this.

The UVa memorial page has his immigration date wrong. I'll track down documentation for this but it was 17 Oct 1952. The UVa page should only be used as a source with some other corroborating piece of evidence. Note that it only spells Velimirović correctly in the body of the article. Additional events to add[edit]

Where would be the correct place to note that Velimirović was a Junior Fellow in Byzantine Studies at Dunbarton Oaks for 1955-6 and 1956-7 documented here [[2]]? The research Fulbright Fellowship 1963-4 that took Velimirović to Greece for a year should also be included. Milov (talk) 19:43, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for mentioning these, they definitely needed to be included in the article. I've added them in to the Academic career section, please take a look, and feel free to make further edits where you feel they are needed. I've also added a Selected Works section, and listed some that I have knowledge of. I still intend to incorporate more information from the UVa Memoriam and the Daily Progress obituary, keeping in mind your caution above regarding the immigration date in the UVa piece. When I've completed these additonal edits (possibly later today, as time allows, but we'll see), then I hope you will review for accuracy. Education/Early life[edit]

Right now the article is misleading, "In 1941, with the invasion of the Axis Powers, the university was closed, and Velimirović was unable to complete his studies there." He did complete his studies at the university -- after the war. I have his diplomas, yes two of them, in my possession. I can provide the dates and details of the degrees. I believe I've corrected the problem; please check it over. My apologies; I think the misleading statement occurred due to my attempts to include information from the web sources without directly copying text (which would be a copyright violation), and it appears that I unintentionally inferred something from one of the web articles which the article itself did not actually state, leading to an inaccuracy in the Wikipedia text.
I do think that the dates and details of his degrees from the University of Belgrade would be good information to include in the article, if you would be so kind as to provide that info.

The first diploma was from the University of Belgrade "na grupi za istoriju umetnosti" on 30 June 1951. The 2nd diploma was from the Music Academy of Belgrade, "za istoriju i folklor sa glavnim predmetom istorija muzike" 29/30 June 1952 Milov (talk) 01:56, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
A couple other notes: (1) Please do feel free to go ahead and correct any other inaccuracies you find in the article, if you feel so inclined. (Wikipedia motto - be bold!) However, if your preference is, instead, to note them on this discussion page as you have been doing, that is fine too.(2) Might you have possession of a photograph of Professor Velimirović that you would care to make available to Wikipedia for inclusion in this article? If it is a photograph which you own, I believe it would fall under "User created images", described in the section of that name on the Wikipedia:Image use policy page, and you would be licensing the image as a "free image" with permission for copying or distribution (see Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and the GFDL-self tag mentioned on that page). More information on uploading an image can be found at Wikipedia:Uploading images.

Publications.[edit]

It appears that the books section contains books of several varieties, those that Velimirović wrote himself, volumes that he was the editor, and those that he was a contributor to. Would it make sense to separate these out with appropriate headings for each? An additional item to add to his list of publications: (1995) "Originality and Innovation in Byzantine Music" in ed. A. R. Littlewood,: Originality in Byzantine Literature, Art and Music: A Collection of Essays, Oxbow Books, ISBN 0-946897-87-5 pp. 189-199 Milov (talk) 20:44, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Two additional papers could be added:
(1972) The Prooemiac Psalm of Byzantine Vespers, in ed. Laurence Berman Words and Music: The Scholar's View: A Medley of Problems and Solutions Compiled in Honor of A. Tillman Merritt, Harvard.
(1993) Problems of Evolution in Meaning in the Russian Neumatic Notation between the 14th and 17th Centuries.
The offprints I have don't provide addition bibliographic detail.

I was able to retrieve 40+ citations for articles in JSTOR. Many of these are "so-called" secondary_reviews labelled Review: [untitled] in various journals. I'll add all of the primary articles. secondary reviews can be added later if necessay. Milov (talk) 02:09, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What is with these bots that are screwing up the publications lists of papers?!?!?!!! Many now read, "ed Last, First,, ed (date)..." This is goign to be a real pain to go through an fix.
