Syrian emigrants to France?[edit]

That category was added in 2012 but I see nothing in the article that supports it. Can anyone provide a citation? The Crab Who Played With The Sea (talk) 22:47, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Emigrant[edit]

Emigrants come from a country and go to another country. If someone is a resident of Lebanon and moves to France than they are a Lebanese emigrant to France. The Armenian emigrant category, is for people resident within the entity of Armenia who leave Armenia. The only exception would be if Manouchian was a recognized national of some other country, but there was no country of Armenia at the time, and he had never been resident in such a country, only within the Ottoman Empire and then in Lebanon after the Ottoman Empire had broken up. He had been in Lebanon since it had been constituted as a country so almost certainly should be classified as Lebanese per emigration status. Emigration is not about ethnicity, but about changing status of nation of residence and allegiance.John Pack Lambert (talk) 21:21, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
