Untitled[edit]

Larry Pruden stayed at Knox College during his year of the fellowship. He was a very down to earth and personable man. I was an undergraduate at the time and some of my friends were very musical and used to enjoy lively discussions with him in the dining hall. They were quite in awe of his musical ability, noting his huge capacity to know what his music was going to sound like whilst it was still in his head. His down to earth attitude to music was very appealing, he used to comment on how proud he was of his band music as it was music that ordinary New Zealand musicians could appreciate and enjoy. I was very sad to hear that he died a few years later still at a young age. I understand that recently a collected edition of his scores has come out and hopefully that will promote a re-evaluation of this man's contribution to New Zealand music. --62.31.135.46 22:35, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
