Yonkers is NOT the largest city in Nassau

Yonkers is not the largest city in Nassau...Yonkers isn't even on Long Island! If you click the link you will notice that Yonkers is north of the Bronx. I would change it myself, but I can't figure out how.

I made the geography section in to links, then realised it was done further down the page. Uh...I'm new and confused. Yea.

Town of Hempstead Villages

Aren't Oceanside and Baldwin both part of the Town of Hempstead? Janni 04:02, 22 September 2005 (UTC)

Seacliff & hamlets

According to http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/NY-LONGISLAND/2006-04/1143945863 ALL of Seacliff is within the Village of Seacliff. Someone today has made edits otherwise. Is there ANY source for the change? --JimWae 19:36, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

As unincorporated "hamlets", these places (and all hamlets in NY) have no legal existence - they are just friendly names. If they are unincorported, they are governed completely by the town (& county & state & fed) gov'ts. School boards are legally established, post offices are notoriously inexact in their use of names. School boards & post office services have legal boundaries, but the hamlets do not. -- --JimWae 22:05, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

I'd be more than happy to defend my claim. Several sections that are located within Massapequa have a Seaford zip code. And there are certain regions on the north shore, not in the village of Sea Cliff, that have a Sea Cliff zip code. Stanley011 23:51, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Upon reading your link, I realize the original way i entered the information is incorrect. There should be included a footnote, or a statement below the list with an explanation of the postal zone information. Good call. Stanley011 23:56, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

William of Nassau

"Nassau, after William of Nassau, Prince of Orange (who later became King William III of England.) The county colors, orange and blue, are also the colors of the House of Orange."

I'm not sure if this 'William of Nassau' is the correct William to refer to. There have been several Williams of Nassau (all related though)[[1]]. If anyone wants to work seriously on this article they should certainly seek out Edward J. Smits, Nassau Suburbia, U.S.A.: The First Seventy-five Years of Nassau County, New York, 1899 to 1974, Friends of the Nassau County Museum, Syosset, New York 1974 (distributed by Doubleday), ISBN 0385089023. Neutrality dispute

The section Nassau County, New York#Police brutality and other misconduct is highly non-neutral, in my opinion. It uses uncited facts and facts out of context to argue the case that the Nassau County Police Department is guilty of extensive brutality and misconduct. The section was largely added by a single user who has made no other edits to Wikipedia, and I fear that they may have an axe to grind here. I invite @Amazima: to respond and explain why they feel this section should remain. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 14:31, 20 December 2017 (UTC)

The article has been updated with hyperlinks and references wherever it was tagged for a citation. After the first set, the rest of the article was tagged. The result is there is a citation on nearly every line. The references added are to i. an independent survey ii. a quote from a legislator from Nassau County iii. a database of police brutality cases. All three were part of a major investigation by an investigative journalist and published by a reputable media house. Other links are to CBS and the New York Times. The question about the misconduct being endemic has also been cited - a Long Island source.

There has been no further discussion about the perceived lack of neutrality since the section was updated with citations for the second time yesterday. There being no other basis for the query, I am removing the neutrality citation.Amazima (talk) 07:54, 22 December 2017 (UTC)

Discrepancies in Deputy Executives

So I've been wanting to fix the Deputy County Executive (DCE) section for some time because something about it seemed fishy. After doing some digging, multiple websites claim multiple things over who was Executive from '02 to '09. This says Helena Williams was DCE from 2002 to 2009, yet this page doesn't even list her until she took the position in 2018. This Newsday article about her talks about her being appointed by Curran in 2017, but doesn't light on her being DCE in the 2000s, which seems odd. However, this interview says Christopher Hahn was DCE from at least 2006 to 2007. Of course, both this page has no references, and the outdated Nassau County official website has no list of former DCEs. I also live in Nassau County, and sadly I cannot for the life of me remember who was DCE at the time. Can anyone help me out? NYCDOT (talk) 19:47, 3 June 2020 (UTC)
