Natural Capital Committee website expiry[edit]

The External Link to the former website of the Natural Capital Committee has been removed for the following reasons:

  • the domain name expired in 2015
  • Defra decided not to renew it as content had been archived (as at Jan 2015) and was being relocated to the GOV.UK domain in accordance with gov policy.
  • a third party purchased the naturalcapitalcommitte.org domain name and for reasons unknown to Defra, repopulated the site with very old, out-of-date NCC content from 2014.
  • Wheels are also 'very old'. That doesn't make them out of date.
  • Describing something st up less than 8 years ago as 'very' old suggests bias / hidden agenda.
  • An obvious reason for reinstating information is to put it back in the public domain after it was, possibly, removed by government because it didn't fit a current agenda. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.139.218.245 (talk) 16:40, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • ownership of the naturalcapitalcommittee domain name is no longer with the NCC or Defra, and is no longer connected with it.
  • inclusion of an expired website is liable to be confusing, rather than helpful to users of this page.

If required, I can substantiate this position with emails sent to me from Defra, should my action be challenged. It was done in good faith and simply to assist users. Parkywiki (talk) 10:13, 6 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
