New edits with historical context/further notes for future research[edit]

First, shoutout to User:Ljthefro for their hard work on this page. Thank you for following up on my notes re: misidentification of SR 94.

I am working to research and ground the information in this page in some of the rich historical context of Nevada's highway system. My method involves archival research and comparative analysis of maps and publicly available information. It is also important to me to be able to update citations to links which will provide online access to source data such as archival maps and news clippings. I have already identified some specific errors which I've also reported to Google Maps; for example, Tecopa Rd as labeled at the NV-CA border is officially designated Tecopa Springs Rd on current NDOT maps. I also expect "Hidden Hills Ranch Rd" and a couple others to be corrected to "Old Route 16," at which point I will remove the reference in this page.

Edit: I also intend to get some fresh photos of the Route in the near future on a side trip through Tecopa, CA. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vegaskukichyo (talkcontribs) 20:45, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to note that I have wikilinked a couple non-existent pages in anticipation of their creation. I am using this page as a 'jumping-off point' to establish some historical pages about lesser-known cultural/heritage sites and historical figures in Southern Nevada. The following pages are next on my list after completing my review of this page:

A lot of work to be done, so here I am, getting started!

My Background: I live in and grew up in the Las Vegas Valley, and I had an early love of the Nevada highway system. I used to sit in the backseat as my family drove and track our route on the map (back when road maps were contained in indexed books and not electronically). I have watched the roads of Southern Nevada grow, e.g. the development of the Beltway, and have also been caught in the perpetual construction on our roadways. I have traveled many thousands of miles on our roads as a former professional driver and resident.

Blessed be --vegaskukichyo (talk) 20:32, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
