Would this lens work on the D40?

Yes, it would. -- Arne List 15:41, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's a very very popular lens being inexpensive (like the D40) and works spectacularly well. AF-D's D chip is fully useful, but of course there is no autofocus motor in either device and thus no autofocus. Many people prefer it this way for learning and (later) for control especially at shallow DoF. 85.23.14.42 19:42, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Nikkor group in flickr is a great source of talk and images. The 50/1.8d comes up very often. The group's tag system allows you to find "sample" photos for it and many other Nikkor lenses. I don't know if this would be worth or possible resource for wp. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.23.14.42 (talk) 19:48, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
