I've been inspired by a Slashdot post about a video of a speech given by Nicholas Negroponte about the $100 laptop. I noticed that the OLPC article was missing so I'm going to set out to write the article.

Nicholas Negroponte no longer part of MIT Media Lab?

I think that this is worth mentioning, as he has also stated that he will be trying to focus mainly on the 100 dollar laptop project 195.8.3.165 09:39, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

Negroponte is still lab faculty. He is just no longer the Chairman of the lab. See this article for more information. Negroponte is taking a (much) reduced role in the lab in order to focus on OLPC. —mako 21:59, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

How bout u just say negroponte instead of MIT Labs. After all he is the only one who is stiking back against Critics and not other members. Aceofspades 18:58, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

Critcisms about the project

There have been many criticisms about the feasibility of the project too, most notably from Lee Felsenstein, co-founder of the Jhai Foundation. I think it would be worthwhile to include it in this page. Critique of the $100 laptop project

Misleading URL

One Laptop Per Child News is not affiliated with One Laptop per Child, Association. "Official" news about the project can be found in the project's wiki. --Walter.bender 21:39, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

The name may not be "misleading". One Laptop Per Child News states in its header that is an independent source of news, information, commentary, and discussion about OLPC, and says in About OLPC News, it is not associated with the One Laptop Per Child organization or any of its participants.

Better Picture

The Theo de Raadt letter is hearsay. Where is the evidence supporting his assertions?

Merge with Children's Machine?

On the contrary, the laptop only exists for the sake of the organization's goals. Other laptops may also be suitable for achieving those goals. --Walter.bender 06:48, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
