Notability[edit]

Is this man notable? I ask this because it appears most of the sources are simple fleeting mentions of him. He appears to hold an unofficial record (which the sources say he shares with other people) for caddying but that's it. Working with somebody famous isn't enough to be notable.

I believe he is notable. I think the mentions made of him and his accomplishments satisfy the requirements of wp:gng. I do not believe the two sources are the same, one is the newspaper article itself and the other is a book which includes various newspaper articles. He shares the total of 5 Masters wins with one other person, and is differentiated from that other person because his 5 wins are with 4 different champions. He has been inducted into the Caddie Hall of Fame which intuitively means he has surmounted the pinnacle of his profession. His notability is no more inherited from the people he has worked with than would be a Hall of Fame broadcaster who made a career talking about the same people.   Fame is not a requisite of notability. Per wp:bio; "For Wikipedia:Notability (people), the person who is the topic of a biographical article should be 'worthy of notice' – that is, 'significant, interesting, or unusual enough to deserve attention or to be recorded' within Wikipedia as a written account of that person's life. 'Notable' in the sense of being 'famous' or 'popular' – although not irrelevant – is secondary." :) John Cline (talk) 23:14, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, that's not what I meant by "famous." I meant famous as in notable. This guy worked as a caddie with famous people, and that really seems to be his only claim to fame. Beerest355 Talk 01:49, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
