Pau Golf Club History[edit]
Hello, I'm not going to change the first few paragraphs because I think it should be done by whoever posted it. Pau was a very tiny and isolated town up until 1840. Henry IV was born at the château but didn't live there. I have difficulty believing any games with mallets were played there before the 1830s or 1840s. Perhaps you might search for an early 17th century or late 16th century source. I recommend removing the first three paragraphs and replacing the text with a simple paragraph more or less stating the land was available in the 1850s during the development of a foreign/tourist colony. In the early 1840s they wanted to build the hippodrome there, but couldn't get the village of Billère to agree. Golf outside the UK[edit]
