This article is short, but how much can you say about someone who doesn't exist and was made up for one purpose only? I don't see that tagging it a stub serves any purpose whatsoever. --John Cowan 12:48, 2005 Jun 15 (UTC)

  • I'm not a Reliable Source, but I knew some of the original Ig Nobel organizers socially at the time. IIRC, Paul DeFanti was a real person, an administrative person at MIT, who was helpful in making the Igs happen - logistical things like arranging the use of the auditorium, etc. I don't remember if he actually came up with the Buckybonnet but I think that giving him the award was either (a) a way to say "thanks" for all the help or (b) a way to pad out a slightly too-short program. :-) Hm, I wonder if any of the primary sources original organizers are still working at the MIT Museum? These articles in The MIT Tech and this one in The Harvard Crimson make it sound like DeFanti is a real person. – Minh Nguyễn (talk, contribs) 01:40, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
