Can anyone cite references for this, because I rather suspect that this "Old Scottish fairytale" was written circa 2001, and that the entire entry is based on that, with a liberal dose of supposition ladelled on top.

Erm that is not Old Scottish, 'Old Scottish' is like Old English. It is easier for British people to understand than Scandinavian people though as a Germanic language it does indeed share words etc. - Doctor Hesselius

I've looked through sources Scottish Fairy and Folk Tales and The Scottish antiquary, or, Northern notes & queries and I can't find anything on the Pech. Am I missing something?
