Changed the table of contents and the awards / nomiantions-section[edit]

I've put the videography right under the discography. The award section can be found under the videography section. I also created a table for the band's awards and nomination to make the sections more comfortable to read. Nuhr 23:54, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Poets of the Fall - emocore?[edit]

I reverted this edit because the old rock/alternative description fits the sound of Signs of Life and Carnival of Rust much better. Emo (music) doesn't really say much about what emocore is, except that it is emotional hardcore; Poets of the Fall isn't a hardcore band. --Idont Havaname (Talk) 04:07, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for that, because they even stated by themselves that they play an alternative rock, it could be also described as indie as they release everything under their own label. Emocore - certainly not, whatever it is.. whatever it is. wlodi 19:40, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Images deleted[edit]

The bot made a royal mess in the discography section while removing the URLs to the deleted images, but I already corrected this. There are other cover images here in Wikipedia, isn't there a way to post these in conformity with the fair-use rules? Would be nice if someone who understands better about this could do it for us.--200.157.29.36 (talk) 05:03, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Post-grunge?[edit]

You guys are really sure about this?
Maybe Revolution Roulette... but what about Signs of Life or Carnival of Rust? -- Vittau (talk) 03:00, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I disagree with it being labeled Post-Grunge. I'm not sure exactly how to classify it, but I certainly would not use that! Vayne (talk) 09:23, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Shattered Horizon[edit]

They (or atleast one of their members) also did music for the recently released first person shooter pc game Shattered Horizon by Futuremark Games (new division of Futuremark Studios). Can someone please valadate this and add it to the page? :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.79.238.22 (talk) 20:28, 16 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Poets of the Fall Is Not Post-Grunge/Emocore[edit]

Hello there! I'm a big PotF fan and I'm pretty sure PotF is NOT post-grunge. They were more to Alternative Pop/ Rock and Alternative Metal if you ask me!

Why?

Okay I did some research. And I found out that PotF's music is way too heavy for post-grunge category. Yes you can say that their music is comparable to 3 Doors Down or DAUGHTRY but! They're from Finland goddammit lol. What I'm saying is, PotF's did not imitate grunge, not like the other post-grunge bands (Matchbox 20, DAUGHTRY, 3 Doors Down, Linkin Park etc).

Alternative Pop/ Rock?

Or alternative rock in general term if you like. There are many forms of alternative rock but what ties PotF with the rest of the alternative rock bands is that, they existed outside the mainstream! Just check the vocalist, the guitarist and the other guy, they came from a very different background, which adds to the point that they are experienced in music, and makes them alternative, or in another way, different than your ordinary pop music.

Alternative Metal?

Yes. Alternative Metal. PotF's music is heavy, but it's not heavy metal. Heavy metal is CLASSIFIABLE. But PotF is something that heavy metal has evolved. Something that is united by its nonconformist sensibility rather than any immediately classifiable sound. And they fall within that category.

Not too heavy (Carnival of Rust), nor too soft (Signs of Life) but just perfect to be Alternative Metal (Revolution Roulette).

I hope this explains :D PotF lives on forever.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by JaymanJohn (talkcontribs) 07:31, 29 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"just perfect to be Alternative Metal" ...how? At least any of the songs I have heard have nothing resembling metal riffs, solos or vocals in them; so which aspect of the music actually makes them any kind of metal? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.157.155.247 (talk) 18:45, 16 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

They're riffs and solos are pretty obviously influenced by heavy metal, it's mainly just the harmonies and productions which are different. The vocals in particular sound influenced by progressive metal. I don't know what you're talking about. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.187.116.16 (talk) 01:36, 27 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of redundant information[edit]

I deleted the detailed information about songs and albums. The writing did not meet the standards of Wikipedia. Besides, all deleted information belongs and has been transferred to the particular album / song-Wiki-articles. Nuhr (talk) 15:56, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This article also needs to be a comprehensive representation of the band, some of this information can be duplicated on the album articles, but most of the deleted information was also pertinent to the band itself. Some of the information could have been trimmed, sure, but not wiped as you had done. Cleanup != deletion. Rehevkor 16:05, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect from "Old Gods of Asgard"?[edit]

Anyone else think that there should be an entry for "Old Gods of Asgard" that redirects to Poets of the Fall?

"Old Gods of Asgard" is the fictional band in the videogame Alan Wake which is credited with performing the songs "Children of the Elder God" and "The Poet and the Muse".

I'd set it up, but I don't know how.

69.136.13.211 (talk) 00:32, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I doubt this would be notable. Rehevkor 00:57, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Rewrite to meet Wikipedia-standards[edit]

I rewrote the article in prose for it to meet Wikipedia-standards and also added multiple third-party-references.89.244.214.1 (talk) 15:47, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Website that lists the release dates of albums and sigles in Finland ?[edit]

Is there a website that features the release dates ? so the references to the band's official website could get replaced. 89.244.233.199 (talk) 17:43, 5 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sure plenty of news sites cover the releases of the albums etc. But that's just the tip of the ice burg. Last time I looked, a lot of the Poets of the Fall website sources linked to reliable 3rd part sources themselves. Rehevkor 18:15, 5 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Tagging with { {self-published} }[edit]

The references for this site are rife with citations to sections of the Poets of the Fall News. This is self promoting and in violation of self-published or questionable sources as sources on themselves item 5: "the article is not based primarily on such sources."

I would simply delete all such references, except that they appear to be factual but not otherwise supported by independent sources. Some of the Poets of the Fall news articles do have supporting links that are not dead and I have begun looking them up to support the assertions made in the article. But I have some difficulty because the real sources are most likely written in Finnish. Google Translate does help some but searching for the true Finnish sources is difficult without the help of someone at least semi-fluent in Finnish.

The article does qualify as notable because Poets of the Fall have achieved "Gold Record" recognition by Finnish standards (10,000 sold).

Providing references for the English version of this page would be much easier if there were a Finnish page for this topic.

I will continue to clean up the references as best I can to get rid of the link rot. In time, I expect to delete the bulk of the references to the Poets of the Fall News, unless there is objection here.

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Markus Kaarlonen[edit]

The article about Markus Kaarlonen has been proposed for deletion due to the lack of reliable sources in it. I have added several sources, but more are needed. Please contribute to the article by adding reliable sources, or at least let me know if there is a source I could use. Thanks. --Λeternus (talk) 19:11, 4 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
