Why is this a separate article?[edit]

Is a subsection detailing the hypocritical activities of these millionaire Marxists within their main article not sufficiently humorous for anybody whose irony gland still works? 173.78.20.96 (talk) 03:21, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, this section was moved from the main article because it was getting too long. Second of all, you are most likely a white hipster and your opinion does not matter here. They need to be on a major label because they need to get their message out there. Why preach to the converted? I've just stumbled upon this article. I'm aware that it is over a decade since the above interchange, but I must admit that I'm sympathetic to the view that it is not ideal that this is a separate article. If this article was detached from the original article because it was too long, then surely the way to go would be to edit down the specific section? Just a thought. Incidentally, as an aside, pity how the above interchange back in 2011 became so personal. Sort of makes co-operative discussion more difficult. This article is BAD[edit]

I'm not an expert on RATM, but this is BAD. "Members of the band often donate nearly all of their money to worthy causes." (uncited) is NNPOV, not cited, and a terribly written sentence. This page needs to be fixed or deleted.

Truman[edit]

The speech citing "every last rich white one of them from Truman on" should probably have at least its glaring error pointed out. Truman was famously not rich, e.g., https://www.quora.com/Why-was-Harry-Truman-so-poor-after-retiring-as-US-president-that-he-became-a-boomerang-Why-couldnt-he-earn-through-making-speeches-and-writing-books-like-other-Presidents# or https://www.senate.gov/reference/resources/pdf/98-249.pdf ; even Harry S. Truman#Post-presidency goes into depth about this. This factual error should be pointed out; perhaps some of the critics of the speech pointed it out at the time. However, I'll leave a note here rather than correcting it immediately, as I'm not sure the best way to give this context with due weight. I added this, but an anonymous user keeps removing it as "irrelevant." If the statement is relevant, so is the veracity of its premise, that all presidents starting from Truman (as of 2007) were rich and white. Many people are going to read this and assume it's true and that only the opinion part (that American presidents should be hung as war criminals) should be questioned. Wikipedia should not help spread ignorance, and omitting the salient facts here would do this. Calbaer (talk) 15:50, 31 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
