Editing this page[edit]

Hi, I would like to edit this page to include a much more detailed perspective of this topic. The page could have much more information especially on its link to inadequate housing and policy options. If you would like to see my references or read more, please look at my user page. --Mmemorablemoments (talk) 16:26, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I am once again thinking about revising this page for the same reasons as above. Please go to my user page to see my references and my ideas. -Mmemorablemoments (talk) 23:17, 26 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I have decided to work on this page for the semester. --Mmemorablemoments (talk) 00:27, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

As I am planning to write this article, I decided to restructure the article to include new sections like Environment, Spatial, and Race. I am also planning on adding a Healthcare Policy section. Please feel free to reach out to discuss the article --Mmemorablemoments (talk) 07:58, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Page Critique[edit]

While there's no denying that this article has a solid foundation, there are a wide variety of avenues for deeper elaboration. For starters, the poverty and physical health section doesn't provide a lot of explanation for the causal mechanisms within poverty that contribute to worse health outcomes. Is it a lack of housing, food insecurity, or some other underlying cause? Additionally, the healthcare section doesn't really provide a humanized explanation for the consequences of a lack of insurance on health outcomes. What exactly are impoverished citizens more at risk for because they are underinsured? --Hunerwithat (talk) 01:18, 14 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello everyone, I am Abigail’s classmate, a current editor on this Wikipedia article. She has provided an excellent draft on the contribution she intends to make to this article on her sandbox page. By providing a new perspective on health by linking it to environmental causes, readers will have the opportunity to learn how outside factors beyond biological factors can affect a person’s physical and mental livelihood. Abigail did a great job in providing new, yet simple content that is accessible to all audiences. In addition, the new content is well sourced from academic articles, therefore readers will be able to rely on these for their own personal knowledge. I advised Abigail to mainly focus on introducing her referencing across the article, providing alternative perspectives and proposed solutions under the “Healthcare Policy” section. Other than this, key words in her contribution need to be linked and images need to be included. I am excited to see Abigail’s final contribution to this article! Wiki Education assignment: Global Poverty and Practice[edit]

I think overall this article does a good job providing emphasis on the intersection between poverty and health, but it could place more emphasis on solutions, such as targeted healthcare interventions and policies to improve housing affordability. This is important in understanding better the role of caseworkers/volunteers in my own Practice Experience: The Suitcase Clinic. For example, the transportation aspect of those who are homeless seems to be a problem assessing healthcare... but this is not covered at all throughout the article, but I feel they should shift their focus to find the active solutions for such issues!!
