Article cleanup[edit]

The article needs a good bit of paring and work. It's almost entirely unsourced and frequently departs from a neutral tone. My initial sense is that cleanup will entail removing large passages of text, so if I remove something critical, please feel free to restore it (that is, the specific critical thing, not entire paragraphs). Thanks. JohnInDC (talk) 02:21, 24 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I want to remove both the tags you have put on this page. For the first tag, "advert", can you tell me which passages of text in the current version of the article (and not previous versions) you feel read as an advertisement? After your edits, I actually do not see how it reads as an advertisement. Ent1981 (talk) 11:45, 27 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Descriptions of various organizations read like something taken from their own marketing materials: "a think-tank constituted to suggest inter-alia steps necessary for achieving highest levels of excellence in education at all levels"; and "devoted to systemic education and experience related to not only material - energy - information and mind- intellect - emotion but also the science of ultra - spiritual consciousness transcending the one in ancient India and the cognitive science based on recent advances in neurophysiology and cognitive psychology"; other material sounds like it came from a CV or a job application: "leading role in education and research in intelligent systems engineering applications to large and complex systems by invoking state-of-the-art soft computing techniques"; "His primary duties involved academic administration of this rapidly growing university system although he continued participating in systems science research and practice. His experience at IIT Delhi and systems approach gave him a foundational base for leading the university system in all its three dimensions, viz., academic, administrative and financial"; and "Satsangi has been one of the major pioneers of Systems Engineering Movement in the country. His major contributions are in the field of Applied Systems Engineering including socio-economic systems such as transportation and energy systems" (a claim which incidentally is referenced by a site that requires the user to relax his or her security certificate standards). Finally, the entire section, "Spiritualism", reads like an endorsement of the Radhasoami faith. The article should be a neutrally-stated description of the subject, his life and his or her own accomplishments, supported by references to third-party reliable sources. And of 14 sources, the only one I can identify that clearly qualifies as such is the Times of India article. If I were to complete the cleanup that I'd started (and I'm thinking perhaps I may now do that), I'd identify him as the leader of the faith (which is what makes him notable), describe the faith briefly, and refer to his prior positions and research in passing, with generalized descriptions of the subject matter he covered. Inaccuracy[edit]

Writers in an encyclopedia should aim for accuracy. Unfortunately (but not unexpectedly), Wikipedia articles in the field of religion and faith are often inaccurate due to editing by true believers. It's inaccurate and misleading to state that Prem Saran Satsangi is "the eighth Sant Satguru of Radhasoami Faith, Dayalbagh." Dayalbagh was founded by Anand Sarup. Hence, Anand Sarup was the first guru of Dayalbagh. Counting Anand Sarup as first, Prem Saran Satsangi would be the fourth. Oliver Puertogallera (talk) 13:12, 31 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
