place of birth[edit]
Richard's parents were married Jan 1, 1838 in Elora, His father died in a trapping accident the following year and is interred in the Elora Union Cemetery with Richard's twin bother Edward. Hamilton is not his place of birth but because the international stage would more readily recognize Hamilton and not Elora the place of Richard's birth has been altered. Richard's widowed mother Ann Walker LAIRD Knowles re-married Daniel Moore GLOVER and they eventually settled in Hamilton on Homewood Ave. raising a large family.
