Assessment comment

The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:RMS Queen Mary/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.

This article has been rated B-class under the WikiProject:Los Angeles assessment criteria as it has sufficint and useful information reguarding Los Angeles-related information but a serious student or researcher trying to use the material would have trouble doing so, it is only mid-importance because Long Beach is a seperate city to Los Angeles, but still falls under the scope of the LA County. More information would serve this article well in a peer-review situation if a GA status is to be achieved. After some minor improvements I would be happy to re-evaluate my grading. * Taifarious1 03:54, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

The Hull Is Corroding

Reports have come out that the Queen Mary's hull and other vital components are corroding:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/03/15/queen-maryship-corroded-fixes-could-near-300-million/

Where can we mention this in the article? Thoughts, anyone?TH1980 (talk) 01:59, 6 June 2017 (UTC)

Utilizing the above source, I added the following to the section about the ship as a tourist attraction:
"In 2017 a report on the ship's current condition was issued. The report noted that not only the hull but also the supports for a raised exhibition area within the ship were corroding, and that the ship's deteriorating condition left areas such as the engine room vulnerable to flooding. Repairs were estimated at close to $300 million. In November 2016 the City of Long Beach had put $23 million toward addressing the Queen Mary's most vital repairs. John Keisler, economic and property development director for Long Beach, said, "We have a timeline in which the engineers believe they can complete those immediate projects. These are major challenges we can only address over time; it can't all be done at once." Political leaders in Scotland, birthplace of the Queen Mary, have called for UK Prime Minister Theresa May to pressure the American government to fund a full repair of the liner."
How's that?-TH1980 (talk) 00:19, 8 June 2017 (UTC)
