- Population taken from: http://www.cso.ie/census/documents/vol1_entire.pdf

- I have removed claim on Boy George's family coming from Rathnew as it is not verified or referenced and was placed under "External links". Happy to re-instate if re-inserted as part of the article and referenced. Nelson50 21:48, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

- Jaysus.. I can't believe they have the internet in Ra'new. What next? Running Water??!--202.171.164.37 11:01, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

- I'd like the neutrality of this article to be flagged and I'd prefer that it got some clean up. It's rather self-serving to the nature of the town and remarkably over-boisterous, most likely written by a proud denizen of the Village itself. In addition, the "Indeed, the criticisms that it might merit, such as a bad local litter problem, merely reflect the nation's and the world's problems as a whole." is a gross overstatement seeing as the nearby village of Ashford, and the town of Wicklow have no such problems in comparison and the philosophical musings of the contributor are not required I highly suggest the contributor not be so blatantly obvious about his remarkable bias. 8:46pm, June 20th 2007.

Untitled[edit]

Well, nearer to home, Glenealy doesn't have a litter problem either. Hard as that might be for a Rathnewtonian to concede! I see what you mean about the article, it has gotten a bit "chatty" and boosterish. I'll have a go at sorting it. (Sarah777 18:58, 21 June 2007 (UTC))[reply]
Nice job Sarah, much less bias and better worded. 19:26, 21 June 2007

Ref book[edit]

Actually the "Illustrated road book of Ireland, Second Edition, Automobile Association , London (1970)" is a very useful geographical guide for most towns giving many details that are useful in these types of articles, so I have no problem in listing it as a reference. Mind you I don't have a copy here so don't recall the full extent of its usefulness. BTW, Sarah777 did you ever find out about the Gazetteer from the Stationery Office that I told you about? ww2censor 11:50, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have a copy here and it is the source of the Irish name translation. We need more references on Wikipedia, not less.Nelson50 21:28, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
By that logic then, it's a reference for every single village, town and city in Ireland so there is absolutely no need to list it here. It doesn't directly reference anything in the article (if it does, then make the link please), and it is not listed as a reference on any other town in Wicklow. Agree we can overdo the references; for example myself (and many others) were routinely adding links to "Lists of Towns and villages in Ireland" and "List of census town in Ireland" and "List of census towns (2002)" to every hamlet. Then someone (not me) got a bright idea and deleted all except one ("Lists of Towns and villages in Ireland") across hundreds of articles. ww2censor, nope. Maybe just as well, I could be dangerous in possession of a book like that!(Sarah777 22:09, 23 June 2007 (UTC))[reply]
